Try-On Appointments

Glamourhouse Dress Hire is open for try-ons by appointment, Monday to Thursday evenings. Appointments often fill quickly — especially during peak seasons — so we recommend booking early to avoid missing out!

To book a 30-minute try-on, complete the contact form on our website or DM us via Instagram @glamourhousedresshire. We encourage you to bring screenshots of your favourite dresses so we can help you make the most of your session — time flies when you’re trying on gowns!

Initial Try-On Appointments (30 mins)

Your first try-on appointment is complimentary (exceptions apply). If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us 12–24 hours' notice so we can offer the slot to another customer. Cancellations made with less than 12 hours’ notice or no-shows will incur a $30 rebooking fee.

Follow-Up Appointments (15 mins)

Follow-up appointments cost $20 each. If you decide to book a dress during your follow-up, this fee will be deducted from your hire total. Otherwise, it is non-refundable. Please note there’s a limit on how many follow-ups can be booked.

Emergency & Out Of Hours Try-Ons (By Request)

Occasionally, we may be able to accommodate emergency or last-minute try-ons outside of regular hours. These are by request and subject to availability. A $30 service fee applies for appointments made outside our usual schedule.

Bookings & Payments

Booking a Dress for Hire
Once you’ve found the dress (or item) you love, you’ll need to secure your booking with full payment of the hire fee. This reserves the garment exclusively for your event date. Dresses cannot be held or reserved without full payment.

Payment Options

  • In-store hires: Payment accepted via cash, bank transfer or Pay ID.

  • Postal hires: Payment via bank transfer, Pay ID or PayPal (3% surcharge applies).

Important:
The hire fee is strictly non-refundable, regardless of circumstances. Please see details under "Cancellations & Change Of Mind" below.

Bond

A standard $100 bond is payable at collection (or at the time of booking for postal hires). This may vary for premium garments. We prefer bond payments to be made in cash on collection. If you'd prefer to pay by bank transfer, please arrange this prior to your appointment.

The bond covers up to $100 worth of minor damage or repairs. If any damage or extra cleaning is required, the bond may be partially or fully retained. If the cost of repair or loss exceeds the bond, additional payment will be required.

On the extremely rare occasion where a dress is damaged beyond repair and must be replaced, the customer will be responsible for covering the full replacement cost.

Your bond will be returned approximately 7–14 days after the dress has been returned, after post-hire inspection & cleaning.

Cancellations & Changes

We understand that plans can change — and we truly care about each of our customers having the best possible experience with us. We’ll always do our best to help where we can.

That said, it's important for us to make very clear that hire fees are strictly non-refundable under any circumstances once paid.

If something comes up, please get in touch as early as possible. Depending on availability, we may be able to offer a change of date, switch to another dress, or provide a limited-time hire credit. While these options aren't guaranteed, we’ll always try to help where we can.

Sickness/Covid Postponements

If your event is cancelled or postponed due to illness or COVID, we still cannot offer a refund — however we’re more than happy to move your hire to a new date (subject to availability), or offer a limited time hire credit in applicable cases. Each situation is assessed individually.

Collection & Returns

Collection

Collection usually occurs 1–2 days before your event. We'll agree on a time with you. ID (driver’s licence, student ID, etc.) must be shown. Bond must be paid in advance or in cash on collection.

Returns

Your return date/time will be confirmed with you at collection. Unless otherwise arranged, weekend hires are generally expected to be returned in our secure return box over the weekend or by 2PM Monday at the latest.

Late returns incur a charge of 50% of the hire fee per day (and a minimum of $30). For postal hires, please return via Express Post the next business day following the event date we have you booked for, to avoid affecting the next booking & to avoid late fees as above.

Important: Customers must not clean, iron, or alter garments. All cleaning and repairs are handled by Glamourhouse and our approved specialists only.

Garment Condition & Damage

Pre-Hire Condition

All garments are checked before collection and any existing imperfections are noted and/or photographed. Dresses are worn multiple times so some minor imperfections may be present and if so are factored into your hire fee.

Damage or Loss

From the moment a garment is collected, full responsibility for its safekeeping passes to the client.

At the time of collection, all garments should be carefully inspected by you, the client. By taking the garment, you acknowledge that you are satisfied with its condition. Any existing flaws should be brought to our attention before you leave — any issues discovered after collection will be considered your responsibility.

We completely understand that accidents can happen! If a dress is returned with damage or stains, we’ll use part or all of the bond to cover cleaning or repair costs.

If the damage exceeds the bond, or if the garment is returned in a condition that renders it unwearable (whether due to stains, tears, or structural damage), the customer is responsible for paying the full retail replacement cost. This applies regardless of whether the damage was accidental or due to negligence. The garment remains the property of Glamourhouse.

In these rare cases, Glamourhouse will also charge for any subsequent missed bookings if the damage results in cancellation of another customer's hire.

Only Glamourhouse-approved cleaners or repairers may be used.

It is extremely rare for this to happen — but please take care of your dress. Major damage or permanent staining can result in the item needing replacement or being permanently marked down, which may incur additional charges.

If the Dress is Damaged Before Your Booking

In the unlikely event that the dress you booked is damaged before your hire date, you will be offered:

  • An alternative available dress to wear, or

  • A 12-month credit for the full value of your hire.

During Wear

Please take care with your garment! Avoid stains (makeup, fake tan, drinks), rough surfaces (bricks, concrete), lash & nail glue & dress/boob tape or glue on external dress surfaces. Be mindful of pointy heels, jewellery. Block heels are safer than stilettos. Dresses with trains require extra care outdoors. Further details can be found under "Garment Care".

Garment Care

We want you to feel amazing in your dress — and we also ask that you take care while wearing it. Please be mindful below, as damage may affect your bond or result in additional charges.

Customer Responsibility
It is the customer’s responsibility to inform us as soon as possible if any damage occurs during the hire period — before returning the garment via text message. This helps us assess repairs promptly and ensures a smoother return process. Please be open with us so we can support you effectively.

Substances That Stain
Please be extra cautious with anything that could leave a mark, including (but not limited to): red wine, brightly dyed drinks (like Vodka Cruisers), ink, oils, waterproof makeup, fake tan, grass, mud, heel scuffs, and similar.
TIP: If something is spilled on your dress, head to a bathroom and gently rinse the area under cold water immediately — before it dries. A little BASIC hand soap may be used if needed. You may also carefully dry the dress using a hand dryer, however ensure a 30cm gap between the dryer and the fabric.

Also, let us know what was spilled; this info helps our cleaners with stain removal.

Long Dresses / Dresses with Trains
Watch out for people stepping on your hem (especially in heels), dragging the dress across outdoor or rough surfaces (like concrete, bitumen, or grass stains), or catching it on furniture (e.g., chair legs). Block heels are often a safer option than stilettos.

Material - Pulling & Damage
Please be careful with rough handbags (and straps eg chain straps) or clutches, corsages, long nails, catchy jewellery, or leaning against abrasive surfaces like brick walls. Mesh and delicate fabrics are especially vulnerable.

Lash & Nail Glue, and Nail Polish
Please do not use lash glue or nail glue (super glue) while wearing or handling your dress, as these adhesives are permanent and can cause irreversible damage. Also, avoid applying nail polish near the dress to prevent accidental stains or smudges.

Boob Tape, Glue & Alterations
Do not use any type of tape or adhesive (like boob tape or double-sided tape) without checking with us first — we’ll let you know where it’s safe to use, if at all.
Pinning, altering, or gluing garments is strictly not permitted without express approval from Glamourhouse.
